## The guide

### Create your account

Sign up at [oftheard.in/signup](https://oftheard.in/signup) with an email and a password, or with Google. No card is needed for the free plan.

With an email and a password, **confirm your address**: open the link in the mail we send (from auth@notify.oftheard.in; look in spam if it is not in your inbox). You can set up your profile while it arrives, and your reports open as soon as you have clicked it. Google sign-ins are confirmed already.

Then answer six questions, once: your name, your role, whether you measure **your own company** or **your clients** (choose clients if you are an agency), the company’s name and website, its sector, and the state it is in. The sector decides the kind of buyer questions written for you later; the state is where every question is asked from unless you pick a place for it.

### Describe the brand, or add a client

**A brand account** writes one brief: the brand name (filled in from the account), the website, and the **product line** — what you sell, in the words a buyer would search, such as “AI visibility” or “dental clinic in Chennai”.

**An agency account** adds clients from the [Clients](https://oftheard.in/clients) page. Each client is a brand of its own with its own website, product line and competitors; the agency’s website is never measured as a client.

Saving starts the site check on its own.

### The site check

About a hundred checks on whether an AI engine can **reach**, **read** and **quote** the site: robots.txt and the AI crawlers it lets in, the sitemap, titles and descriptions, structured data, speed, and the local signals that matter for “near me” questions.

- Each check says what it found. On a paid plan it also says why it matters and gives the **code to paste**, written for your site and the platform it runs on.

- Fix what fails, then run the check again from the dashboard to confirm.

- A perfect score does not mean an engine will recommend you: it means nothing on the site is in the way.

### Name your competitors

On the dashboard, name the competitors a buyer compares you with, each with its website. Every answer is then read for them as well as for you, so you see who is recommended instead of you and why.

Checking a competitor’s site puts it through the same checks as yours, once a day for each, and does not use up your own site checks. Naming competitors is optional: a session reports whoever the answers name either way.

### Write the questions

A **collection** is the set of questions a session asks. Make one on the [Questions](https://oftheard.in/queries) page, then fill it:

- **Generate** writes up to twenty buyer questions at a press for your brand, category and state, across question types such as price, trust, comparison and “near me”. A collection holds fifty.

- **Add a question** of your own, the way a buyer would type it. With no place picked it is asked across India; pick a state, or one of 787 districts, and it is asked from there.

- Questions also come from **Search Console** (real searches that showed your site) and from the **Add** buttons on the Sources page.

Keep a small collection for the questions that matter most; it is cheaper to run often.

### Run a session

On [Sessions](https://oftheard.in/ranking), press **New session**, pick the collection, give it a name, and tick the engines: **ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode**. Every question is asked to every engine once, as a buyer in India.

- A question with no place goes to the ChatGPT and Gemini apps as a buyer would use them; a question pinned to a place is asked from that place.

- Run it now and watch, or let it run in the background and come back. A paid plan can also book a session to run on a date, every month.

- How many sessions a month you get depends on the plan; the dialog says what is left.

### Read the session

A session opens as a page:

- **The verdict**: did the engines read your site, and did they name you.

- **Share of Model**: how often the engines recommended you. **Sentiment**: how they spoke of you when they did.

- **One tab per engine**, each scored on its own, since each answers differently.

- **Every answer**, with who was recommended and why; open one to read it in full.

- **The pages the engines read** before answering, and **how they describe you** in their own words — check it is right.

A session is compared with the one before only where the engine was asked the same way, so a change you see is a change in the answers.

### Act on the plan

Every session ends in an action plan, in order: the pages to write or change, the sites to get mentioned on, and the **nearest misses** — questions where an engine read you or named you but recommended someone else, which are the cheapest wins. Each item is joined to the failing checks on your own site. The plan is part of the paid plans.

### Sources and AI mentions

The [Sources](https://oftheard.in/sources) page lists the websites the engines read before answering, ranked by how often, and marks the ones that helped a competitor and never helped you: that is your list of places to get mentioned.

- **Across India, on Google’s AI Overviews**: how many AI answers on Google link to your site and to each competitor’s, and the real searches in your category where you are not cited, with how often each is searched. Press **Add** to track one in your next session.

- That card is refreshed **once a month** per brand. If the same category words or competitors were already read this month, it comes back instantly and your monthly refresh stays unused.

- **Conversations to join**: Reddit, Quora and forum threads the engines read. Answer as yourself; never post as a customer.

### Clients: add, switch and manage

An Agency account holds **five clients** at once, each with its own website, competitors, questions, sessions and crawler sensor. Add one from [Clients](https://oftheard.in/clients); switch between them with the client picker at the top of every page. Settings lists them under Brands; remove one to make room for another.

### Your name on the reports

In Settings, **Your name on the reports** takes your agency’s name, website, reply email, colour and logo (PNG or JPEG). Once it is on, every PDF this account downloads carries your name, logo and colour instead of Oftheard’s. Export a session’s PDF from its page.

### A link for the client

Make a **client link** in Settings: a page the client opens with no account and no password, showing that day’s numbers under your name, and what changed since the week before. Make a new one to update it; revoke it at any time.

### See which AI crawlers read the site

On [Crawlers](https://oftheard.in/crawlers), make a site key and install the small sensor where the site runs: a **WordPress plugin**, a **Cloudflare worker**, or ten lines on any server. It then reports every AI crawler visit — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google and others — page by page, for ninety days, and the page ledger shows what happened to each page.

### Connect Google

In Settings, connect **Google Analytics** to see every visit that arrived from an AI answer, by landing page, and **Search Console** to import the searches that showed your site over ninety days as questions. Both are read-only and disconnect with one press. An account that will not sign in with Google can add a service account as a restricted user instead.

### API and MCP

In Settings, **API and MCP** makes a key for your own AI assistant or scripts: name it after the tool, and copy it straight away — it is shown once. Every plan has it. Keys are read-only, allow up to 2,000 calls a day, and each shows what it used today. The card gives ready-made setup for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor and plain HTTP.

One key reads every brand on the account; an agency can ask for each client’s monthly update in its own assistant. Every endpoint and tool is listed in the [API and MCP reference](https://oftheard.in/docs/api).

### Connect Claude Code

Paste the command from Settings into a terminal; your key is already in it:

```
claude mcp add --transport http oftheard https://oftheard.in/api/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer ofh_…"
claude mcp list        # oftheard: … ✔ Connected
```

Then run `claude` and ask in plain words: “Who did the engines recommend instead of us this month, and why?” or “What do the engines get wrong about us?”. Claude Code gets fifteen read-only tools, one for each part of your account.

### Fix your site with Claude Code

Open Claude Code in your website’s code and ask: **“Fix this website using my latest Oftheard site check.”** It reads the fixes through the MCP, worst first, finds the file each belongs in, and makes the changes — canonical links, descriptions, Open Graph, structured data, sitemap.xml, robots.txt — without inventing details it does not have.

What needs you (a logo, a privacy policy, more writing) or your host (HTTPS redirects, HSTS, Bing Webmaster Tools) is listed for you. Review the changes, deploy, and run the site check again to confirm. Fixes with code are part of the paid plans.

### Plans

**Free**: a look at your site and one session on one engine. **Starter** ₹3,999 a month, **Growth** ₹9,999 and **Agency** ₹24,999 (five clients), GST extra where it applies. The paid plans ask all six engines and add competitors, the action plan, Sources, the crawler sensor and the fix code. See [pricing](https://oftheard.in/pricing) for the full table.
