Why one answer proves nothing
Ask an AI assistant the same buyer question twice and you often get a different list of names. One answer on one day, shown to a client as proof, is a coin toss presented as a result. A tool worth paying for asks the same questions on a schedule, keeps every answer, and counts how often the client was named over many asks.
Ask any tool: how many times was each question asked, from where, and can I read each answer? If it shows only a score, you cannot defend the number when the client asks.
What to look for
- Where the question is asked from. An answer asked from another country is not what a buyer in Coimbatore sees. Look for answers asked as a buyer in the client’s market.
- Every engine kept apart. ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode read different pages. A single pooled number hides which one moved.
- The pages the engine read. The sources behind an answer tell you where to work: the client’s own page, a directory, a list on another site.
- Google and Bing beside it. Most AI answers start from a search. A client who ranks nowhere is rarely named.
- The work, not only the watching. A tool that finds the gap and drafts the page saves the hours that a tracker leaves to you.
- Clients kept apart, with the owner’s agreement. Each business its own campaign; each owner agreeing to work on their site.
How Oftheard measures for an agency
Each client is a twelve-week campaign. Every week it asks the client’s tracked questions of ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode as a buyer in India, with Claude every other week on Growth, and keeps each answer whole with the sites the engine read. Beside it: Google ranks from each question’s town and Bing ranks from India, for the client and up to five or ten competitors.
Between the weeks it does the work: a site check with the fix for each problem, and a page drafted for each tracked search from facts the owner confirmed, approved by a person and published to WordPress. The client gets a read-only report with your agency’s name on it.
What to tell a client about AI visibility
- Nobody can buy a place in an AI answer. There is nothing to submit to. The work is being readable and being written about where the engines read.
- The site is half of it. Fix what stops the engines reading the client; the free AI SEO audit shows it in half a minute.
- The other half is on other sites. Lists, directories, reviews and forums. The weekly answers show which ones the engines read for the client’s questions.
- Expect weeks, not days. A changed page is left about three weeks before it is judged, because Google tests it first.
Questions
What is the best AI visibility tool for agencies?
The one whose numbers you can defend to a client: the same questions asked on a schedule, from the client’s market, with each answer kept and each engine kept apart, and a report the client can read. Check that before features or price.
How often should AI visibility be checked?
Every week on the same questions, so a change can be told from noise. A single check shows what one answer said on one day, which is not a trend.
Can an agency guarantee a client will be named by ChatGPT?
No. Nobody can. An agency can make the site readable, get the client written about where the engines read, and show the answers week by week.
Does Oftheard track AI visibility for many clients?
Yes. An agency account holds up to 50 clients, each with its own campaign, its own questions and its own report.
