The short answer
Choose Brand Radar if you want to see how your brand and its rivals show up across a very large index of real search questions, already pay for Ahrefs, or want custom prompts cheaply in dollars with an API and MCP. Choose Oftheard if you are a business in India, or an agency with local clients, and want the campaign run: up to twenty searches and questions on Starter and fifty on Growth, Google checked from your city and Bing from India, five AI assistants asked as a buyer in India, the site fixed, and pages drafted from your confirmed facts and published to WordPress, in rupees.
The index refreshes its chatbot answers monthly and Google AI Overviews every few days; custom prompts run daily, weekly or monthly. Oftheard checks every tracked search once a week for twelve weeks, and in week 12 compares the end of the campaign with the start, search by search.

Where Ahrefs Brand Radar is the better choice
- You want the market, not only your own questions. The index holds hundreds of millions of prompts built from search data, so you see topics you would not have thought to ask.
- You already use Ahrefs. Keywords, backlinks and the site audit sit on the same login, for an SEO team that works across thousands of terms.
- You want cheap custom prompts with an API. $50 a month buys 2,500 checks, and the API and MCP come with Lite.
- You care about YouTube, Reddit and TikTok. Brand Radar tracks mentions there too, in beta.
Where Oftheard is the better choice
- You want the pages written. Drafts from facts you confirm, checked for invented prices or figures, approved by a person and published to WordPress with undo. Brand Radar shows the gaps and the pages AI cites for rivals; your team writes.
- Your buyers are in one Indian city. Ahrefs does not say how fine a custom prompt’s location can be. Oftheard checks Google from your city every week and asks the AI assistants as a buyer in India.
- You want the site check with the fix. A hundred checks of what Google and the AI crawlers need from each page, with the fix written out for each problem.
- You want one price for twelve weeks, in rupees. ₹4,999 per business, paid once, with the search rankings, the AI answers and the pages in it; nothing renews by itself.
What each costs for a business in India
Brand Radar custom prompts start at $50 a month, about ₹4,800, for 2,500 checks, where one check is one prompt on one platform in one location; Growth is $100 for 7,000. The index is $199 a month, about ₹19,100, per platform, or $699 for all. Ahrefs Lite at $129, about ₹12,400, adds the SEO tools with five prompts a day. Oftheard Starter is ₹4,999 for a twelve-week campaign for one business, paid once, with up to twenty searches and questions checked every week on Google, Bing and five AI assistants, the site check and twenty page drafts; Growth is ₹9,999 for up to fifty, with Claude every other week. Per AI answer, Brand Radar costs less; Oftheard’s price includes the Google and Bing rankings, the site check and the pages written.
How to decide
- Decide whether you want the number watched or the work done. A tracker tells you what the engines say; a campaign also fixes the site and writes the pages. If nobody on your side will write the pages, that decides it.
- Write down where your buyers are. If they are in India, and often in one city, the Google ranks should be read from there.
- Count how often you will act on the numbers. A daily tracker you open monthly is a monthly reading at a daily price; a weekly report with a short list of what to do next is twelve readings that each lead to work.
- Run the free check on both. Ahrefs Brand Radar has its own free entry; Oftheard’s site check is free, takes about half a minute and writes out the fix for each problem.
Claims about the other tool are from its public pages, checked on 22 October 2026: pricing, product, docs, sitemap, robots.txt and llms.txt. Dollar prices are turned into rupees at ₹95.76 to the dollar. Oftheard’s side is the product as it is in October 2026. Prices and features change; check the vendor before deciding.
Questions
Does Ahrefs Brand Radar need an Ahrefs subscription?
No. It is sold on its own, with an Ahrefs Free account, and custom prompts start at $50 a month. Ahrefs Lite at $129 includes five custom prompts a day.
Does Brand Radar cover India?
The index mirrors the countries in Ahrefs’ keyword database, which is large for India, and a custom prompt takes a location; Ahrefs does not say whether that location can be an Indian city. Oftheard asks the AI assistants as a buyer in India, checks Google from the business’s city and Bing from India.
Is Oftheard an Ahrefs replacement?
Not for an SEO team. Oftheard does not do open-ended keyword research, backlink analysis or rank tracking across thousands of keywords. It runs one business’s campaign: up to fifty searches and questions, the site fixes, the pages, and a weekly check of Google, Bing and the AI answers. An in-house SEO team keeps Ahrefs; a business without one may not need it.
